Quick answers

What gear oil does an Evinrude E-TEC 40 / 50 / 60 / 65 hp use, and how much?
HPF XR Gearcase Lube; HPF Pro in high performance or commercial applications. Quantity: 22 fl oz (650 ml).
What spark plug does an Evinrude E-TEC 40 / 50 / 60 / 65 hp use?
Champion QC10WEP (refer to the emission control information label). Gap: 0.028 ± 0.003 in (0.71 mm).
How often should an Evinrude E-TEC 40 / 50 / 60 / 65 hp be serviced?
The factory schedule lists: Every 300 hours or every three years. In Hawaiʻi's salt water we do a full yearly service every 200 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first, and a new engine needs its first (break-in) service.
When should the water pump impeller be replaced on an Evinrude E-TEC 40 / 50 / 60 / 65 hp?
The factory schedule says to inspect it at 300 hours. In Hawaiʻi's warm salt water we replace it every 200 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first, because a worn impeller is the most common cause of overheating.
What is the idle speed of an Evinrude E-TEC 40 / 50 / 60 / 65 hp?
In gear 800 ± 50 r/min; neutral 750 ± 50 r/min.
