Quick answers
- How much oil does a Yamaha F80 / F100 take?
- 4.5 L (4.8 US qt, 4.0 Imp qt) without filter; 4.7 L (5.0 US qt, 4.1 Imp qt) with filter (same for F80A/F100A).
- What engine oil does a Yamaha F80 / F100 use?
- 4-stroke motor oil, API SE, SF, SG or SH, SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40. The F100B/C oil change procedure also lists 20W-40.
- What gear oil does a Yamaha F80 / F100 use, and how much?
- Hypoid gear oil, API GL-4, SAE 90. Quantity: F100B: 0.785 L (0.83 US qt, 0.69 Imp qt); F100C: 0.670 L (0.71 US qt, 0.59 Imp qt); F80A/F100A: 670 cm³ (22.6 US oz, 23.6 Imp oz).
- What spark plug does a Yamaha F80 / F100 use?
- NGK LFR5A-11, qty 4. Gap: F100B/C: 1.0 to 1.1 mm (0.039 to 0.043 in). F80A/F100A: 1.1 mm (0.043 in) (supp. 2).
- How often should a Yamaha F80 / F100 be serviced?
- The factory schedule lists: Initial 10 hours; Every 100 hours; Every 200 hours; Every 500 hours (30 months); Every 1,000 hours (5 years). In Hawaiʻi's salt water we do a full yearly service every 200 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first, and a new engine needs its first (break-in) service.
- When should the water pump impeller be replaced on a Yamaha F80 / F100?
- The factory schedule says to inspect it at 500 hours and 1,000 hours. In Hawaiʻi's warm salt water we replace it every 200 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first, because a worn impeller is the most common cause of overheating.
- What is the idle speed of a Yamaha F80 / F100?
- F100B/C: 800 to 900 r/min. F80A/F100A: 850 to 950 r/min.
- What is the propeller nut torque on a Yamaha F80 / F100?
- F100B: 55 N·m (5.5 kgf·m, 40 ft·lb); F100C: 34 N·m (3.4 kgf·m, 25 ft·lb); F80A/F100A: M16, 35 N·m (3.5 m·kg, 25 ft·lb).
